Helping You Learn How To Play Guitar

Supercharge Your Guitar Practice Time

Lesson 7: S T R E T C H

This lesson is a big one: don't forget to STRETCH.

I don't mean physically stretch your muscles and tendons (though, if you play a lot, that can be important too). I mean choose things to work on that are difficult enough to give you a real challenge.

Before I started taking private lessons, I would choose things to work on that were just a little bit more difficult than what I knew I could already do. I made progress, but it was slow.

When I started taking lessons, one of the first things I noticed was that my teacher would give me things to work on that were WAY harder than I thought I was capable of. And, at first, I had to pick my way through these pieces v-e-r-y  s-l-o-w-l-y.

But before I knew it, I could play them faster and faster, and eventually, I could play these pieces up to speed without mistakes! So be sure and choose at least one piece to work on that is more difficult than you think you're ready for . . . and don't forget to take it  S L O W.
